Traditional Phone Service

Eastern Slope Technologies provides reliable quality telephone services to the communities of Hugo, Arriba, Bennett, Eads, Flagler, Genoa, Haswell, Karval, Kit Carson, and Woodrow. As a member of the ESRTA cooperative, you are also an owner in which capital credits are accrued with each service you subscribe to. Services include telephone and high-speed broadband internet. Connection Features & Options

Our phone service has a wide variety of features, options, and upgrades available, so you can custom-tailor your phone service to your specific needs. The section below details the description, cost, and information on how to access the features.  

To activate ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION:

  • Dial *77 and listen for a confirmation tone, hang up.
To deactivate ANONYMOUS CALL REJECTION:
  • Dial *87 and listen for a confirmation tone, hang up.

To activate AUTOMATIC CALL BACK:

  • When you hear a busy signal, depress the switch hook and release, listen for a special dial tone.
  • If you have already hung up, pick up the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
  • Dial *66, if the line is still busy, hang up. Your phone will check the number for up to 30 minutes.
  • A special CALL BACK ring alerts you if the line becomes free (some phones ring normally).
  • Pick up the handset to automatically place the call.
To deactivate AUTOMATIC CALL BACK:
  • Depress the switch hook and release, listen for a special dial tone.
  • If you have already hung up, lift the handset and listen for a normal dial tone.
  • Dial *86 and listen for confirmation tone, hang up.

To activate AUTOMATIC RECALL:

  • If you were already on the phone and ignored a Call Waiting tone, depress the switch hook and release quickly.
  • Dial *69, your call will go through like a normal call.
  • If the line is busy:
  • Hang up, your phone will keep trying the line for up to 30 minutes.
  • A special callback ring alerts you if the line becomes free (some phones ring normally).
  • Pick up the handset to automatically place the call.
To deactivate AUTOMATIC RECALL:
  • Dial *89 and listen for confirmation tone, hang up.

To activate CALL FORWARD:

  • Dial *72 and listen for the special dial tone.
  • Dial the number you want your calls forwarded to, followed by a # sign.
  • Feature is in effect when someone answers at the forwarded number. If there is no answer or if the line is busy, hang up the phone and repeat the steps above. If you do so within two minutes, you will hear two “beeps” – meaning CALL FORWARD is automatically activated. You will hear one short ring each time a call is forwarded.
To deactivate CALL FORWARD:
  • Dial *73, listen for two “beeps”, then hang up.

To activate CALL FORWARD BUSY:

  • Dial *90 and listen for the special dial tone, then dial the number you want your calls forwarded to.
  • Feature is in effect when someone answers at the forwarded number. If there is no answer or if the line is busy, hang up the phone and repeat the steps above. If you do so within two minutes, you will hear two “beeps” – meaning CALL FORWARD BUSY is automatically activated.
To deactivate CALL FORWARD BUSY:
  • Dial *91, listen for two “beeps”, then hang up.

To activate CALL FORWARD NO ANSWER:

  • Dial *92 and listen for the special dial tone.
  • Enter the number of rings to be allowed before the call is forwarded (from two to nine rings), followed immediately by the 10 digit number you want your calls to be forwarded to.
  • Feature is in effect when someone answers at the forwarded number. If there is no answer or if the line is busy, hang up the phone and repeat the steps above. If you do so within two minutes, you will hear two “beeps” – meaning CALL FORWARD NO ANSWER is automatically activated.
To deactivate CALL FORWARD NO ANSWER:
  • Dial *93 and listen for two “beeps”, then hang up.

To activate REMOTE ACCESS:

  • Dial the dedicated access number, your area code-prefix-9337.
  • Listen for two beeps.
  • Dial your 7 digit telephone number and immediately dial your Personal Identification Number (PIN), given to you by Eastern Slope.

To activate CALL FORWARD:

  • Go through the remote access process
  • Listen for two beeps
  • Dial 72 and listen for two beeps.
  • Dial the number that you want your calls forwarded to.

To deactivate CALL FORWARD:

  • Go through the remote access process
  • Listen for two beeps
  • Dial 73 and listen for two beeps, then hang up.

Three-Way Calling is required for this feature to work…

To use CALL TRANSFER:

  • Depress the switch hook for about one second to place the person you are talking with on hold.
  • Listen for the dial tone, then dial the third person to whom you want to TRANSFER the call.
  • When the third person answers, simply hang up the phone and the two calls will be connected.
  • To make the call a Three-Way conversation, depress the switch hook for about one second to add the person you have on hold.
  • At any time, you may hang up to drop out of the Three-Way conversation; the other two parties will still be connected.
  • To disconnect the third party, depress the switch hook for one second. You are now connected only to the original party.

To use CALL WAITING:

If someone dials your number while you are using your phone, do one of the following-
  • Hang up, this ends your first call. The phone will ring and when you pick it up you are connected to the second call.
  • Depress the switch hook for one second and release. Your first call is put on “hold” and you are connected to the second caller. You can alternate between calls by pressing the switch hook for one second and releasing, each conversation is private.
  • Ignore the beep.

To temporarily deactivate CANCEL CALL WAITING:

  • Dial *70 and listen for the special dial tone, then dial your call as normal.
  • Your CALL WAITING will be canceled for the remainder of that call only. When you hang up, CALL WAITING will be automatically reactivated.

To use CALLER ID PER CALL BLOCK:

  • Dial *67 before placing your call, your telephone number will NOT appear to the called party.
To use CALLER ID PER LINE BLOCK:
  • This feature blocks your telephone number on all of your outgoing calls and must be subscribed to. If you dial *82 before placing your call, your telephone number WILL appear to the called party

To use:

  • When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes the first ringing signal.
  • The name and telephone number of the person calling you will automatically appear on your display screen.
  • If you choose to answer the call, the number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up.
Note: If you see PRIVATE on your screen, the caller may have blocked the display of their number by dialing *67 before placing the call.

To use:

  • When you receive a call, wait until your telephone completes the first ringing signal.
  • The telephone number of the person calling you will automatically appear on your display screen.
  • If you choose to answer the call, the number will remain on the screen until you or the caller hangs up.
Note: If you see PRIVATE on your screen, the caller may have blocked the display of their number by dialing *67 before placing the call.

To use CUSTOMER ORIGINATED CALL TRACE:

  • Dial *57 immediately after terminating the call. If you have received any calls since that one, we are unable to trace the call.
  • Contact the appropriate law enforcement agency to retrieve and process information from us.
  • There is a $1.00 charge for each traceable call you have us check.

To use HOME INTERCOM:

  • Dial your own 10 digit phone number. You will hear a recorded message that you have dialed your own number, place the handset back on the switch hook.
  • Listen for the phone to ring normally.
  • When someone picks up one of the extension phones, the ringing will stop.
  • Pick up your phone and you will be connected to the extension phone. When you hang up, the HOME INTERCOM feature is disconnected.

Allows you to see at a glance if you have Voicemail messages. Your telephone must have this capability.

To activate RING AGAIN:

  • When you hear a busy tone, depress the switch hook for about one second.
  • Listen for a special dial tone, then dial 77# and wait four seconds.
  • Listen for the confirmation tone (two short beeps), then hang up the phone, RING AGAIN is now activated.
  • Once both your line and the number you are trying to reach are free, you will hear two short rings on your phone. Pick up your phone and the number is automatically dialed.
To deactivate RING AGAIN:
  • Dial 77# and wait four seconds.
  • Listen for the confirmation tone (two short beeps) then hang up the phone, RING AGAIN is canceled. The request is also canceled if you do not pick up your phone within 12 to 30 seconds after hearing the special RING AGAIN signal (two short rings).
  • The feature will automatically cancel itself if your line or the line of the person you are trying to reach is busy for more than 30 minutes.

To use SELECTIVE CALL ACCEPTANCE:

  • Dial *62 and listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many numbers are stored on your ACCEPTANCE list.
  • Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to turn the feature ON (if it is currently OFF), or turn the feature OFF (if it is currently ON).

  • To add the last caller to your ACCEPTANCE list, dial #01#.
  • To hear the phone numbers on your list, dial 1. After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.
  • To add a number to your ACCEPTANCE list, dial # and follow the voice instructions you hear. You can store up to eight phone numbers on your list with a maximum of four lists.
  • To remove a number from your list, dial * and follow the voice instructions.
  • To hear instructions again, dial 0.

To use SELECTIVE CALL FORWARD:

  • Dial *63 and listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many numbers are currently stored on your FORWARD list
  • Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to turn the feature ON (if it is currently OFF), or turn the feature OFF (if it is currently ON).

  • To add the last caller to your FORWARD list, dial #01#.
  • If the current number is correct, dial 1. If you wish to change the current “FORWARD-to” number, dial 0 and then follow the voice instructions.
  • To hear the phone numbers on your list, dial 1. After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.
  • To add a number to your FORWARD list, dial # and follow the voice instructions. You can store up to eight phone numbers on your list, with a maximum of four lists.
  • To remove a number from your list, dial * and follow the voice instructions.
  • To hear instructions again, dial 0.

To use SELECTIVE CALL REJECTION:

  • Dial *60 and listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many numbers are currently stored on your REJECTION list.
  • Follow the voice instructions and dial 3 to turn the feature ON (if it is currently OFF), or turn the feature OFF (if it is currently ON).

  • To add the last caller to your REJECTION list, dial #01#.
  • To hear the phone numbers on your list, dial 1. After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.
  • To add a number to your REJECTION list, dial # and follow the voice instructions. You can store up to eight numbers on your list with a maximum of four lists.
  • To remove a number from your list, dial * and follow the voice instructions.
  • To hear instructions again, dial 0.

To activate SPEED CALLING:

  • Dial *75, listen for the second dial tone, and dial any number 20 through 49.
  • Immediately dial the phone number you wish to enter under that SPEED CALL number, then press the # button, you will hear two confirmation beeps.
To use SPEED CALLING:
  • Dial the appropriate code, any number 20 through 49.
  • Dial #, your call will now be automatically dialed.

To activate SPEED CALLING:

  • Dial *74, listen for the second dial tone, and dial any number 2 through 9.
  • Immediately dial the phone number you wish to enter under that SPEED CALL number, then press the # button, you will hear two confirmation beeps.
To use SPEED CALLING:
  • Dial the appropriate code, any number 2 through 9.
  • Dial #, your call will now be automatically dialed.

To use TEEN SERVICE:

  • Wait until the full ringing pattern is complete before answering; main number is the normal ring and TEEN number is two short rings.
  • The same distinctive ringing patterns of TEEN SERVICE are used with Call Waiting and correspond to the distinctive ringing patterns.

To use THREE-WAY CALLING:

  • Depress the switch hook for about one second, listen for the dial tone, and then dial the third number you want to join the conversation.
  • To make the call a THREE-WAY conversation, depress the switch hook for about one second to add the person you have on hold.
To disconnect the third person:
  • Depress the switch hook for about one second.
  • If either of the two people hangs up, you can continue talking with the remaining party.

TOLL RESTRICT ALL – $1.00

  • Blocks outgoing calls to ALL long-distance numbers.
TOLL RESTRICT INTERNATIONAL – $0.00
  • Blocks outgoing calls to INTERNATIONAL numbers.
TOLL RESTRICT 1+ – $2.00
  • Blocks outgoing calls to 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx numbers.
TOLL RESTRICT 900 – $0.00
  • Blocks outgoing calls to 1-900-xxx-xxxx numbers.
  • To access your voice mail service for the first time you will need to dial your (area code)-prefix-6245 from the phone line associated with this service. You will be asked for your mailbox number, which is your ten (10) digit telephone number.
  • The prompt will then ask for your password, which is the default of four zeros (0000) and will need to be changed. Passwords can be up to 16 digits. You may use the default greeting provided by the voice mail service or record your own greeting.
  • To set up your own greeting and you are calling from your landline phone:
    • Dial (area code)-prefix-6245
    • Select option 9 and you will be prompted to set up greeting options
  • To set up your own greeting from another phone line:
    • Dial (area code)-prefix-6245
    • Enter your ten-digit phone number (area code)-prefix – XXXX
    • Enter your password and #
    • Select option 9 and you will be prompted to set up greeting options
  • Call Forward features have been activated and set to the default of four (4) rings before forwarding. The included instructions explain how to change these features to suit your needs.
